The Instructional Technology doctoral program is designed to prepare instructional technology professionals:
- with the knowledge and skills in design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of materials, process, and resources to enhance learning in educational and business settings and
- who are committed to respecting diversity among people, and who ascribe to the highest of ethical standards and practice in the field of instructional technology.
The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) is a professional degree designed to emphasize preparation for the highest levels of educational practice. This degree requires a minimum of 93 hours including dissertation. Masters hours in Instructional Technology count toward this total. The emphasis is on preparing Instructional Technology professionals for leadership roles as public school and college level educators and for work in training positions in business and industry. The program includes a solid foundation in research, curriculum, and teaching skills with an emphasis in instructional design, and educational technology.

Steps
- You apply to the Texas Tech University Graduate School
- You receive an eraider login( via the email you gave in your graduate school application) and activate your login.
- Graduate School receives your information.
- You apply to the TTU College of Education for the degree you are applying for using your eraider login.
- The Graduate School processes your application and sends a worksheet to the College of Education requesting approval for admittance from the degree program.
- You provide all materials required for the College of Education program to make its decision.
- Your College of Education application is locked and no new materials or editing can occur.
- Faculty in that program review your application and application materials.
- The program's faculty makes their decision about your application.
- The Graduate School's worksheet is returned with the program's recommendation.

- It is very important that the email you provide is accurate and viewed on a regular basis. We will send you an email when a decision has been made concerning your application or when anything is incorrect or needs updated.
- The College of Education Graduate Studies office send notes to you through the application status page. So check it often.
- You must have an eraider username and password to apply. You receive an eRaider after applying to the graduate school.
